Welcome to South Mountain Dairy!
South Mountain Dairy is located in Southern Santa Fe County at the base of South Mountain. This area is also known as the East Mountains of Albuquerque. We are a farmstead, artisan cheese business. Farmstead because we use only the milk from the goats who are raised on our farm. Artisan because we make our cheeses by hand.
South Mountain Dairy is owned and operated by Donna Lockridge and Marge Petersen. We are a seasonal dairy, producing cheese from early April through November. We began building our dairy in 2004, and received our Grade A Dairy License in April, 2005. Our goal in 2004 was to build the dairy so that we could both enjoy an early retirement from our respective "corporate lives", and have something meaningful to do with our time after we had retired. Today we are both retired, and working harder than we ever did when we were employed!
But at South Mountain Dairy, it's ALL about the girls!
